Back to School ‘08
Working in retail tends to give a gal a sort of distorted sense of time and season. At See Jane Work we don’t deal in the ‘here and now’…it’s more like the ‘here and coming soon’.
Sometimes it’s energizing, like in the dark of winter when we start planning and buying for spring. It might be cold and gray outside, but soon we’ll be introducing fresh new products with sunny palettes to brighten our work space.
At other times working a season or more ahead can be downright alarming, like when Kelly wants our ideas for the Winter Holiday Gift Guide in June. Surely, we gasp, it can’t be time to start making holiday plans again already!
This week it is relatively quiet in my home office because my youngest is away at summer surf camp. While he's at the beach getting lessons on "paddling out" and "popping up" we at See Jane Work are already prepared for the upcoming Back to School season with all the must-have supplies and even a few "just for fun" items to get both kids and moms ready for the new school year.
Because while they might wish that summer would never end, before we know it, it'll be time for them to switch from surfboards to blackboards.

- Composition Books - Make sure their class notes, lab work, and writing assignments are easy to find even in a crowded locker with Office Basics Composition Books, available in three different cover designs.

- Pencil Sharpener - They'll stay sharp all the way through 6th period Biology Lab with the precision Pencil Pusher Sharpener.
- Erasers - Little kids will love our Gummy Bear Eraser/Sharpeners. Order a bunch and give them out as a First Day of School prize. Big kids can rub out mistakes and miscalculations with the Erase Eraser from our Office Basics Collection.
- Pencil Bag - They can keep pencils, pens, highlighters and erasers neat in their book bag or backpack with a nylon Barcelona Pencil Bag.
- Scissors - Plastic-handled safety scissors are fine for kindergarteners, but older kids will want a pair of high-quality Dovo Scissors that cut clean and look cool.
- Calculator - Help them with their math homework without having to Google 'long division' so you can remember how to do it with the pocket size Lexon Calculator.
- Rubber Bands - Helpful for keeping loose items together in their desk or pencil bag, the colorful Rubber Band Ball is made from over 250 rubber bands.
- Cork and/or Chalk Board - Post schedules and assignments, and keep all those notes from school tidy with a Cork Board or Chalk Board from notNeutral.
- Stapler -They'll never run out of staples with a Cat or Dog Staple Free Stapler.
- Glue - Stick with the good stuff. Coccoina Glue Sticks and Glue Cans are non-toxic, non-solvent, and acid-free. Plus they have the sweet scent of marzipan.
Back to School Checklist for Mom
- Planner - You've got three kids at three different schools and you're the Room Mom for all of them. Keep their schedules, and yours, straight with the Mom Agenda Planner.
- Wall Calendar - Post weekly and monthly plans where everyone can see them with the multi-schedule Mom Agenda Wall Calendar.
- Note Pads - Juggling work and family is truly an amazing feat. The Balance Sheet from Mommy Track'd is divided down the middle so you can keep your work to-do list on one side and your home to-do list on the other. Avoid scribbling a note to the teacher on the back of a diaper coupon by keeping Mom Agenda Permission Slips with you in the car.
- Kitchen Notebook - Keep class lists, trip slips, hand-outs, sports schedules and more together and in easy reach with a Mom Agenda Kitchen Folio.
- Kid Lists - How does their homework always seem to turn into your homework? Help them stay organized, so you don't end up making a mad dash home to grab a math book before the first bell rings with the Homework Pad from Buttoned Up.
- Duffle Bag -You've got everybody settled into their new schedules and you've spent the past two weeks cutting out felt stars for the teacher's bulletin board. Take the weekend off and enjoy some well-earned "me" time with the Jane Marvel Weekender Bag.
